Today I have a special post for you. I’m taking part in a Christmas Blog Hop with many talented bloggers, hosted by Hometalk.com and CountryLiving.com. Welcome inside my home for an old‑fashioned Christmas tour.
Just inside the door is my blackboard wall, cheerfully decorated by my daughter with a snowy winter tree — a little bit of winter inside even when the weather outside doesn’t cooperate.
Beside the blackboard sits my decoupaged trunk, which I covered with old book pages. I told the elves to stay away, but they’re a mischievous lot and I’m sure a few are hiding inside.
On top of the trunk I placed a small tree centerpiece and a basket for Christmas cards. I’ll show how I assembled the centerpiece in my next post — I hope you’ll stop by for that tutorial.
The lamp by the sofa is topped with a simple wreath for a subtle, festive touch.
In the living room the tree stands in a corner, and above the sofa I’ve arranged frames dressed with vintage Christmas cards to add warmth and nostalgia.
I slipped old Christmas cards into simple frames and used brown paper as mats to create an easy vintage look that feels timeless and cozy.
Last month I refreshed the wall unit by turning the books so their pages face outward. That neutral backdrop makes the red and gold decorations pop and gives a clean canvas for holiday accents.
Our cheerful snowman is eagerly awaiting real snow — but for now he’s happy to keep watch from his cozy spot on the shelf.
Those sweet red dolls were a gift from my older daughter and fit perfectly with the vintage, handmade feel of the room.
A simple trick: reuse old frames and slide Christmas cards inside for instant, inexpensive seasonal art that looks curated and cohesive.
The garland on the shelf began as paper tubes made for Thanksgiving; with a touch of red it became a festive Christmas garland that’s both recycled and cheerful.
Another simple vignette: a single black frame holding a cute Santa card proves that sometimes less is more.

At the heart of the season is what we’re celebrating — the nativity scene that reminds us of the Christmas story and gives our home its true holiday focus.
The mirrors are dressed with a few of my homemade ornaments for a personal, hand‑crafted feel throughout the house.
My old‑fashioned tree is set up with a vintage vibe — reds and golds are the palette, and a lace ribbon garland adds softness. I made several changes since last year and I’ll share more details in an upcoming post.
That completes my tour for now. Thank you for stopping by — I appreciate your visit. Please come back later this week to see the small tree centerpiece tutorial. Wishing you a joyful and peaceful holiday season.
